Testing the Waters
We test our theory by obtaining quotes from brokers to move a vehicle. We find vehicles on the load boards with ridiculously low rates being offered to carriers. Then we have someone call and ask that broker for a quote. We then compare that quote to what we see them offering the vehicles for on the load boards.
Surprise, surprise, there is a large discrepancy between what they are quoting and what they are attempting to move vehicles with carriers. Will some silly low rate on the load boards result in the vehicle being picked up? Maybe, but likely no. If a silly low rate is accepted by a carrier, why? Would a Legitimate carrier with a $1,000,000.00 Liability Policy, several hundred thousand dollars in cargo insurance, appropriate FMCSA authority operating under the International Fuel Tax Agreement carry freight for darn near nothing? They don’t… but there are plenty of carriers operating under the radar that are willing to do it at your risk.
